Containerships completes first LNG bunkering in Rotterdam

Containerships, a CMA CGM Group subsidiary, has completed its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering procedure at the Port of Rotterdam this month.

234 metric tons of LNG were bunkered onto Containerships’ Nord vessel on January 24, 2019.

The 1,400-TEU Containerships Nord is the first of four LNG-powered containerships to join the fleet. The following vessels are scheduled for delivery over the next few months.

CMA CGM will take delivery of nine 22,000-TEU vessels from 2020 as well as two 1,400-TEU vessels, all equipped with motors using LNG.
