Ocean Network Express (ONE) has reduced its Scope 1 emissions intensity from 38.63 to 35.68 gCO₂e/TEU-km between FY2023 and FY2025, alongside a wider digitalisation programme covering fleet performance, data analytics and customer operations. A ZeroNorth deployment across more than 270 vessels shows how shared voyage data is being used by shore teams and crews to improve routing, fuel use and emissions management.
For a container operator managing hundreds of vessels, digitalisation is part of the operational machinery behind fuel efficiency. ONE’s 2026 Sustainability Report shows how the company is linking data, vessel operations and commercial systems as it works towards its 2030 emissions intensity target.
ONE reported Scope 1 emissions intensity of 35.68 gCO₂e/TEU-km in FY2025, down from 37.21 in FY2024 and 38.63 in FY2023. The company is targeting a 70% reduction against its 2008 baseline by 2030.
One practical example is ONE’s partnership with ZeroNorth, whose platform has been rolled out across a container fleet of more than 270 vessels. The system gives shore personnel and onboard crews a shared view of voyage data, allowing them to make routing decisions and monitor fuel consumption and emissions from a common information base.
The report also details ONE’s broader Digitalization Roadmap. Its programme has included AI and machine learning applied to data from multiple applications, a single source of truth through its Data Centre of Excellence, expanded eCommerce functions and the ONE Insight market intelligence series.
The operational link is important for fleet managers. ONE says its efficiency programme combines AI-driven weather analysis, strategic scheduling, stowage optimisation, machinery management and an in-house fleet performance monitoring system.
The report presents digitalisation as part of a wider operating model in which data is used alongside technical measures and voyage planning. For ship operators, the ZeroNorth case provides a concrete example of that model reaching the vessel level, connecting decisions made ashore with actions onboard.
